In town to promote his new film “4:44 Last Day on Earth,” directed by Abel Ferrara (“Bad Lieutenant,” “King of New York”) and co-starring Natasha Lyonne and Shanyn Leigh, Willem Dafoe pulled out all the moves to woo the Italian paparazzi, moves not normally attempted without a belt on.
Stepping out with his wife on the red carpet, and laughing it up at the official Lancia Cafe, Dafoe was only too happy to don a Jaeger LeCoultre timepiece (who wouldn’t be?) while presenting a film which considers what would happen if everyone knew the world was ending at a

If you’ve been wondering where your “Into the Wild” star has been lately, fear no more. Though he’s been on the down low since “Milk’s” release in 2008, director William Friedkin’s “Killer Joe” showed at the Venice Film Festival and screens at the Toronto International Film Festival this week.
“Killer Joe” sees Hirsch star opposite Matthew McConaughey, Thomas Haden Church, Gina Gershon and Juno Temple. In the film (based on a play by Tracy Letts) Hirsch’s character puts a hit out on his evil mother in order to collect the insurance.
Hirsch has also recently completed “The Darkest

With Al Pacino busy receiving his Jaeger leCoultre Award, the red carpet hosted the all-star cast of Colin Firth, Gary Oldman, Mark Strong and John Hurt in support of their Cold War era film “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” based on the novel by John Le Carre, and slated for release in the US on December 9, 2011. Picking up watchmaker Jaeger le Coultre’s “Glory to the Filmmaker” Award at the Venice Film Festival, Al Pacino injected excitement into the world’s oldest festival, where even the press room went autograph crazy trying to get the star’s signature.
In Venice to present his latest directorial effort, “Wilde Salome,” Pacino was joined by this year’s unchallengeable rising star Jessica Chastain (“The Help,” “Texas Killing Fields,” “The Debt,” “Take Shelter”). Chastain, clearly happy to be accompanying Pacino in Venice, planted a kiss on the actor/director’s cheek to the delight of the region’s paparazzi.
Consistent with Pacino’s recent musings on “The

Mirroring the marketing strategy behind Ben Affleck’s film “The Town” from 2010, “Contagion” makes its premiere mark at the Venice Film Festival ahead of its theatrical release in the U.S. this coming week. Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne, Jennifer Ehle and director Steven Soderbergh took to the red carpet to present the film.
Also lighting up the long walk were actors James Franco and Val Lauren, stars of the biopic “Sal,” a film about the actor Sal Mineo in which Franco stars as film director and famed acting coach Milton Katselas (with Val Lauren taking the title

The kick-ass photo galleries from the oldest film festival in the world continue. From Day 3 of the 68th Venice Film Festival Kate Winslet continued her red carpet rampage, while Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley and Vincent Cassel (and director David Cronenberg – “Eastern Promises,” “A History of Violence”) kicked off their support of “A Dangerous Method” – a film which deals (fictionally) with the relationship between Carl Jung (Fassbender), Sigmund Freud (Mortensen) and a patient they both treated, Sabina Spielrein (Knightley).
Winslet took the red carpet by storm in an hourglass-silhouetted Stella McCartney dress alongside an Edie
