Historically, Live Nation had to pair up with record companies to implement its 360 deals, which govern the revenue from sponsorships, merchandise, concerts and recorded music. Jay-Z and Madonna are two artists who’ve recently ditched standard record backers to go the Live Nation route.

On Tuesday, Shakira became the first Colombian celebrity to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “This is incredible,” the entertainer gushed during the ceremony.

The Hollywood Chamber notes that Shakira got her Walk of Fame star to acknowledge her contributions as a philanthropist and her accomplishments as a producer musician, singer, songwriter and dancer. This isn’t the last accolade for Shakira this year by a long shot; later this week, she’ll accept the “Person of the Year” award at the Latin Grammys in Las Vegas.

It's hard to believe that Colombian hip-shaker Shakira has been keeping things jiggy for about twenty years now, winning two Grammys, seven Latin Grammys, twelve Billboard Latin Music Awards and landing a Golden Globe nomination along the way. Appearing at Brazil's Rock in Rio 2011 festival yesterday, those who attended seemed thrilled by Shak's performance despite a later than scheduled kick-off.
