Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Spike Lee, Maya Angelou and Beverly Kearney are among the 2012 BET Honors winners. The annual show celebrates the achievements of African-Americans in the fields of education, music and the arts and is set to take place on Jan. 15 at Washington, D.C.’s Warner Theater.
Gabrielle Union is confirmed as the BET Honors host. Previous honorees include Whitney Houston, Jamie Foxx and Queen Latifah.
Wonder will receive the Musical Arts trophy, while Carey will be recognized as Best Entertainer. Angelou and Lee will be recognized for the literary arts and media, respectively.

Queen Latifah will return to the talk show hosting scene. Miguel Melendez of Overbrook Entertainment — Will Smith‘s production company — confirmed the move in a statement today. “We have known and admired Latifah for over 20 years, dating back to our music days, and to her first television role,” it read in part.

We’ve heard of the mambo and the cha-cha, but is there a dance called “the pickle”?
If not, pint-sized Jersey Shore star Snooki will surely invent it, and we can look forward to her fancy footwork on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars!
No signatures have yet been inked, but inside sources have leaked casting info for the lucky thirteenth season.
Diminutive diva Snooki is set to sign on, as is rapper Queen Latifah, actress Tiffani Theissen, and celebrity sibling Rob Kardashian.

Weíd sort of forgotten about Queen Latifah in recent years, what with her starring roles in Bringing Down the House and Taxi. Since we would rather watch two straight seasons of Touched by an Angel than witness Latifah trying to pretend that Steve Martin is not the honkiest honky in Honkytown or that Jimmy Fallon is funny, she retreated to the back of our consciousness with Richard Grieco and Bananarama. But getting a bunch of lap dances at Scores may gain the Queen some of our love. It did wonders for Christian Slater.
