It appears a director has been found for the second installment of “The Hunger Games” franchise. With off and on news filtering in about whether big time helmer Gary Ross would return for another round with Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, Lionsgate seem to have found their man for “Catching Fire.”
And just who is this lucky, soon to be mega-famous, director: FRANCIS LAWRENCE.

This weekend was filled with a bit of ’90s nostalgia as the popular raunchy comedy franchise from the decade returned with “American Reunion” and the once all-time box office champ, “Titanic,” came back in 3D. However, it was no match for “The Hunger Games,” which continues to flex its muscles having another strong weekend with $33.5M. That brings its total domestic gross to over $300 million, making the Jennifer Lawrence thriller the fastest non-summer release to reach that mark in the U.S.

Diehard fans of “The Hunger Games” may want to check out the three signed final posters Lionsgate is currently auctioning for charity. Each studio-certified poster is signed by Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz and Gary Ross and comes with a signed letter of authenticity.
Also up for auction are “The Hunger Games” books signed by Lawrence, Hemsworth, Ross, Elizabeth Banks and Woody Harrelson; nine flaming mockingjay posters, which are signed by Ross, Hemsworth, Hutcherson, Harrelson, Banks and Wes Bentley; and three Mockingjay pins.

Lawrence said, “I was watching the Kardashian girl getting divorced, and that’s a tragedy for anyone. But they’re using it for entertainment, and we’re watching it. The books hold up a terrible kind of mirror: This is what our society could be like if we became desensitized to trauma and to each other’s pain.”
