“Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” was always going to be a greenlit project given the 2007 original’s global $230m box-office take from a budget less than half that amount.
Five years on, Nicolas Cage returns as Johnny Blaze, supported by “The Wire’s” Idris Elba as “Moreau” and Johnny Whitworth as “Carrigan/Blackout.”
In smart counter-programming to Valentine’s Day fare, the film opens on February 17, 2012.
