A Captain America Hero Costume that was used in “Captain America: The First Avenger” was auctioned for $228,000 over the weekend after being projected to sell for between $20,000 and $30,000. Other Marvel memorabilia included the “Iron Man 2″ Mark II suit, which fetched $132,000.

The Profiles in History auction took place at the Chicago Entertainment and Comic Expo and grossed $1.1 million from the sales of 217 memorabilia lots. Over 200 people attended the auction.

Tuesday night’s Elizabeth Taylor jewelry auction was one for the ages: it broke seven world records and brought in almost $116 million.

One of the marquee items sold was “La Peregrina,” a Cartier-designed necklace with a 16th-century pearl. After a pre-auction estimate of $2 to $3 million, the necklace eventually sold for $11.8 million, which is the most ever paid for a single-pearl jewel. The auction also broke records for the per-carat prices of a ruby, Indian jewel and colorless diamond.
