Hollywood’s 10 Biggest Heartbreakers – a Valentine’s Day Special

14, 2012 2:36pm

By Jason Guerrasio

Valentine’s Day sparks images of loved ones receiving flowers, candies, gifts, a nice dinner and maybe even a marriage proposal, but in Hollywood it’s those who can’t be tied down whom receive the most attention this time of year.

Some celebs can’t help but be heartbreakers, and here are 10 of Hollywood’s biggest. Though some on this list are currently in relationships, don’t be surprised if they go back on the market soon.

10. George Clooney

One of the biggest heartbreakers in Hollywood during his career, women from Teri Hatcher and Elisabetta Canalis to his current flame Stacy Keibler hasn’t been able to get the Oscar-winner to settle down. And his charming evasiveness is part of the reason why we love him.

9. Leonardo DiCaprio

Leo is one of the few in Hollywood who can come close to Clooney’s heartbreaker status. Linked to some of the most beautiful ladies in the world like Gisele Bundchen, Bar Refaeli and Blake Lively to name a few, it’s tough to ever know who he’s smitten by as the megastar is very private about his relationships. Rarely seen with them in public and never has them accompany him on the red carpet, that’s probably why we’re always so interested when someone is by his side.

8. Gerard Butler

Since his chiseled abs burst on the screen in the swords and sandals hit “300,” Butler, with his Scottish accent and smooth manner, has been the object of affection for the likes of Rosario Dawson and even his “The Bounty Hunter” co-star Jennifer Aniston. And he’s not shy with playing off his heartbreaker persona on screen, starring as the unattainable TV host in 2009’s “The Ugly Truth” and coming next he plays a former pro athlete who can’t resist the soccer moms while coaching his son’s team in “Playing the Field.”

7. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston InStyleConsidered recently by Men’s Health as the “Hottest Woman of All Time,” Aniston has spent her post-“Friends” career trying to find love but coming up short with guys like Vince Vaughn and John Mayer. She’s currently with actor-director-screenwriter Justin Theroux and says, Having experienced everything you don’t want in a partner over time, it starts to narrow down to what you actually do want. But when you’re labeled the Hottest Woman of All Time it makes you a bit unattainable. Good luck, Justin.

6. Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez Glowing AdJ.Lo’s heartbreaking ways have long been detailed, from her engagement to Ben Affleck and marriages to her backup dancer Cris Judd and most recently Marc Anthony. And that’s why she’s our modern day Elizabeth Taylor, someone whose aura is just too large for one person to obtain. She’s currently with her background dancer, Casper Smart. We’re sensing another heartbreak on the horizon.

5. Bradley Cooper

The current Sexiest Man Alive has been linked to Renee Zellweger, Lopez and Zoe Saldana. Cooper, however, doesn’t like the stigma associated with being a bachelor. “If you’re a single man and you happen to be in this business you’re deemed a player,” he says. “But I don’t see myself as a ladies’ man.” But he’s certainly breaking a lot of hearts.

4. Scarlett Johansson

At 27-years-old, Johansson has quickly become a marquee name in Hollywood as she moves back and forth from indies to blockbusters. And her eclectic choices don’t end with her roles. She’s been pegged with Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn and was briefly married to Ryan Reynolds, but with her rumored relationship with ad exec Nate Naylor, it looks like she’s going “civilian” for a while.

3. Blake Lively

Blake Lively in ElleThe youngest on this list, Lively, 24, has a lot of heartbreaking ahead of her — but she’s done pretty well so far. After ending a three year relationship with fellow “Gossip Girl” star Penn Badgley, she’s been seen with Ryan Gosling, DiCaprio and Reynolds.

2. Shia LaBeouf

Back in 2007 the “Transformers” star seemed content with steering clear of dating his co-stars, once saying, “It’s really easy to fall for someone on-set, but in the end you know, it’s a representative and it’s not really them.” But he’s only human, and when you’re spending a lot of time with the likes of Megan Fox and Carey Mulligan things are going to happen. Now LaBeouf is with someone who’s not in the limelight and hopefully it works out a little better.

1. Jason Sudeikis

Probably the most surprising on the list, the SNL funnyman has quietly become a heartbreaker with links to January Jones, Aniston and Olivia Wilde. We wouldn’t categorize him as a heartthrob, especially with this youthful picture above from SNL’s bio page, but sometimes that doesn’t matter. As the old adage goes, you can’t resist someone who can make you laugh.

Kirsten Dunst in Vogue Italia

Kirsten Dunst has a gorgeous nature-themed editorial in the February 2012 issue of Vogue Italia that places the actress amid trees, sand and surf. Photographer Yelena Yemchuk captured Dunst in printed frocks and swimsuits curated by stylist Leith Clark.

The editorial is called “True Heart,” which probably references the 1999 film of the same name in which Dunst and Zachery Ty Bryan played siblings lost in Canada after a plane crash. While we’re in awards season spotting a new trend is about as difficult as finding a new celebrity baby name to mock and I’m basking in its glory like a kid in a candy store.

Celebs brought out their finest for the People’s Choice Awards, the Critic’s Choice Awards and the Art of Elysium Gala. We’ve seen several trends emerge, but the one that really stood out from the pack is bold, monochromatic frocks. From stark blacks and whites to saturated candy colors, our favorite red-carpet figures made their marks in daring solid sheaths.

The ladies in the opening image (clockwise, from top left): Jessica Chastain, Odette Yustman, Minka Kelly (in Oscar de la Renta) and Viola Davis (in Raoul), as well as Ginnifer Goodwin (in Roksanda Ilincic) below, are a few of my favorite examples.

With everything from neutrals to pastels to neon brights on display, it’s easy to see a monochrome dress in any shade can pack quite the style punch.

This trend works for day or night. Here are a few key things to remember when rocking this trend.

  1. Keep your accessories simple and clean for day, and replace them with glittery pieces for evening.
  2. Footwear should either be in a contrasting color or a neutral; avoid matching your shoes to your dress.
  3. Bags should be sleek, small, and black or white (a bold color that contrasts with the dress is okay if your shoes are a neutral). Otherwise, tossing another color in the mix can make the ensemble look careless, rather than structured.
  4. Wear it with confidence; it’s the one accessory that can pull together almost any look.

Now that you’re ready to try it yourself, here are some beautiful monochrome pieces.

Top Row: LNA Kristen Dress ($115,, Ann Taylor Fluted Cap Sleeve Dress ($98, Bottom Row: Central Park West Lovington Side Drape Dress ($107,, BB Dakota Mia Jersey Dress ($74,

And of course, some structural accessories to pull together your new bold look:

Top to bottom: Kelly and Katie Woven Envelope Clutch ($29.95,; Nine West Asymmetrical Clutch ($27.60, was $69,; Crushin’ on Kelly Handbag ($37.99,

Kenneth Jay Lane Statement Art Deco Necklace ($152.13, was $295.43,; Bar III Crystal Mesh Statement Necklace ($58,

Cezanne Crystal Statement Clip-On Earrings ($28.80, were $48,; Noir Purple Round Stone Statement Earrings ($80,

Pacific BCB generation ($98); Slone by Enzo Angiolini ($99, both pairs at

Now that you have the tools, I hope you’ll put together your own bold and beautiful look!

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Bring Glamour to Berlin (Photo Gallery)

Cinema for Peace raises awareness for movies and documentaries that tackle humanitarian, environmental and political issues. Inviting key figures around the world to its annual awards ceremony and gala in Berlin, this year’s attendees included Angelina Jolie – who was honored for her directorial debut “In the Land of Blood of Honey,” Luc Besson and Michelle Yeoh (who were treated to a video cross to the Nobel prizewinner portrayed by Yeoh in Besson’s latest film, Aung San Suu Kyi).

Jolie expressed that she’s feeling nervous about debuting the film in Bosnia. “I’m nervous and excited,” she revealed. “I’ll probably cry through the entire thing. I’ll be very, very moved because, of course, a lot of the people coming are the victims of war so it’s going to be heavy.”

Brad Pitt attended the event in support of Jolie, and actors Christopher Lee and Catherine Deneuve also participated in proceedings.
