Celebs.com Presents the Week’s Five Best-Dressed Celebs (Charlize Theron, Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, Beyonce, Leighton Meester…)

By Elizabeth Mitchell

We suppose that in the week leading up to Black Friday (only the biggest shopping day of the year, duh!), it’s no coincidence that blacks, whites and neutrals ruled the red carpet. Well, except for Miss Blake Lively in blue, of course. Find out which stars caught our eye and which designers shined in this week’s edition of Celebs.com’s top five best-dressed celebs of the week.

5. Beyonce

Donning a plunging black Roberto Cavalli gown with gold sequins, R&B songstress Beyonce proudly shows off her growing baby bump at the screening of her Live at Roseland: The Elements of 4 concert DVD in NYC on Sunday. Now, talk about a pregnancy glow—Beyonce looks flawless!

4. Jessica Alba

At the Swarovski Elements lighting ceremony in Beverly Hills on Monday, host Jessica Alba is walking in a winter wonderland in her snow white, Carolina Herrera Resort 2012 dress. The actress accessorizes with a silver Daniel Swarovski clutch, Barbara Bui snakeskin heels and, of course, a big, beautiful Swarovski crystal necklace. Looking good, Jess!

3. Charlize Theron

Looking ever so polished in a chic, little black Christian Dior dress and strappy gold sandals, actress Charlize Theron poses on the red carpet for a few pics at the NYC screening of her new flick, Young Adult (see the official trailer BELOW!) on Friday (November 18). We love her sleek, sophisticated updo and barely there makeup. Not to mention, her Fred Leighton jewels and golden clutch match perfectly.

2. Leighton Meester

Celebrating Gossip Girl’s 100th episode in NYC on Saturday, actress Leighton Meester gets all dolled up in a sexy white strapless Balmain mini. Tousled locks and strappy Jimmy Choo sandals complement her chic red carpet ensemble.

1. Blake Lively

At the Barneys New York Celebration Launch of Lady Gaga’s Workshop on Monday, Gossip Girl star Blake Lively takes the plunge in a bright blue lace detailed suit by Elie Saab. She completes her look with black Christian Louboutin pumps and Lorraine Schwartz earrings.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Talks ‘Ugly Betty’ Childhood and Her Newfound Celebrity Status in Harper’s Bazaar December 2011 (Photo Gallery!)

Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has an interview in the Harper’s Bazaar December 2011 issue, and the “Transformers 3″ star and Victoria’s Secret Angel revealed that despite her good looks today, she had an ugly-duckling phase.

“I was a bit of an Ugly Betty when I was 15,” she admitted, adding that she would head to castings “in trainers, with braids, a ton of makeup, plucked eyebrows… I had braces.” Her swan moment came at 18, when she signed with Victoria’s Secret.

Today, Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley is often asked to do her runway walk at parties. “There’s always a moment when some great song comes on and everyone’s like, ‘Do the runway walk, Rosie!’ And you’re like, ‘No, no, no,’ and then you begrudgingly get up and do your thing. It might be my little party trick. It always gets applause.”

In the photos that accompany the interview, Huntington-Whiteley rocks phenomenal tribal-print fashion for the expert lens of Greg Kadel. See some of the Harper’s Bazaar stills below.

Celebs.com Weekly Trend Report: Celebs Adding a Tuxedo Twist

23, 2011 1:00pm

by Allison Daniels

The American tuxedo, or the European “smoking” (a term made famous by YSL with his iconic “le smoking”) has been in use since the late 1800s as an alternative to more traditional formal-wear.

The tuxedo was utilized early on by rule-bending stylesetters like Katharine Hepburn and Marlene Deitrich (pictured above), who highlighted their unique fashion senses through menswear, and by photographers such as Helmut Newton, who knew when to push the limits of voyeurism.

More recently, the fashion world has begun to toy with the idea of the tuxedo, mixing and matching its elements to create new, playful looks for both day and night. While a full tuxedo may be hard to pull off if you aren’t posing on a red carpet (and even if you are), pairing a bow tie with a pleated skirt, or a tuxedo jacket with jeans is a fresh way to dress up pieces you already own. Here are some of my favorite tuxedo-inspired looks:

Top to bottom: Kate Moss, Mary-Kate Olsen, Gwyneth Paltrow, Diane Kruger.

When trying this trend yourself, it’s all about balance. To make sure the tuxedo theme is translated, keep your basic pieces in the black and white family. Shoes and accessories work for pops of color. A white blazer with black jeans looks chic – not formal but not too casual with a nude or jewel-toned camisole beneath. Try it with boots for a shopping trip or brunch; pair with stilettos for drinks or dinner.

Top: Victoria’s Secret Satin Lapel Blazer ($138, victoriassecret.com); J Brand Leggings in Coated Black ($215, revolveclothing.com). Middle: Wacoal Embrace Lace Camisole ($40, zappos.com); Poinsettia of No Return Bootie ($49.99, modcloth.com). Bottom: DV by Dolce Vita Boston ($97, zappos.com); Clutch Leather Bag ($39.90, shop.mango.com)

Another great tuxedo look is a full black mini-skirt with a white button-down. Add a bow tie (or a bow-tie pin) to take the trend to the next level. I recommend high-heeled booties or stilettos for this look. But a great alternative if you’re feeling cheeky is a flat brogue (I adore these in metallics and neon shades).

Top: Free People Pleated Leather Vegan Skirt ($148, revolveclothing.com); Women’s Tuxedo Casual Shirt ($140, reiss.com). Bottom: RAS Shoe Boots ($145, yoox.com); DV Dolce Vita Suede “Marcel” Oxford Loafers ($69, bloomingdales.com).

One of my favorite new takes on formal-wear is the evening short. Whether it’s a mid-length short in a luxe fabric or short shorts in a sequined finish, stars have embraced this look as a chic and playful alternative to the cocktail dress.

Top: Alexa Chung, Lauren Conrad and Rachel BilsonBottom: Amanda Seyfried

For this trend, just remember to balance the sexy gams you’re showing off with a more conservative top. Tuxedo jackets and tailored shirts work well here. And to balance the slight tomboyish vibe of your evening short, be sure to amp up the femininity with a sky-high heel. Above are some celebs rocking the trend with style, and below are a few pieces you can use to try the look yourself.

Top: See by Chloe Sequin Shorts ($138.25, theoutnet.com); Relaxed-Fit Pleated Shorts ($49.90, shop.mango.com). Bottom: Autumn Cashmere Black Cashmere Shawl Collar Tuxedo Jacket ($178, bluefly.com); Colin Stuart, The Supermodel Pump ($98, victoriassecret.com)

Jeremy Renner in December/January Issue of Details Magazine (Photo Gallery!)

jeremy renner

Jeremy Renner is on the cover of the December/January issue of Details magazine, and the “Bourne Legacy” actor divulges details on his life before he hit it big and how he’s adjusted to his post-”Hurt Locker” fame.

“I feel blessed to be working these past 20 years in this business,” he said. “But when ‘The Hurt Locker’ came around, it became another thing. And all it was is opportunity. I’ve been waiting for a role like that for a long time.”

Renner has sacrificed a lot for acting. “I never dated, because I couldn’t afford to date,” he said. “I didn’t even have electricity. You try to put a positive spin on it, like, ‘Hey, this is so sexy — look at all these candles!’ But I loved what I was doing.”

Check out more images from Jeremy Renner’s shoot with photographer Norman Jean Roy for Details Magazine below, and read the full interview here.

These photos of Amanda Seyfried from the Marie Claire December 2011 issue show off sizzling winter fashion with just the right touch of glam.

In the accompanying interview, Seyfried revealed her three beauty “musts” (Kombucha tea, red lipstick and SoulCycle) and her stage fright (talk shows give her the heebie-jeebies). …Read More
