Deschanel spoke of finding happiness in her career. “I just realized I am happier and do better work if I’m doing what I believe in.” She continued, “I’ve never had a problem saying my opinions about things. I never stop myself from doing something because I’m afraid of what people might think.”
Being an opinionated, strong woman made it difficult for the actress to form friendships with her female peers. However, as she’s gotten older, she seems to have found her niche. “I did go through this period where girls would be mean and I had a lot of guy friends. But I’ve found as an adult the importance of having female and male friends.”
