The Black Eyed Peas frontman revealed their plans for Spears’ follow-up to 2011′s “Femme Fatale” in an interview with Rolling Stone.
“After I did a song on ‘Femme Fatale’ — ‘Big Fat Bass’ — and then we did ‘Scream & Shout,’ she really liked the way we worked because of my approach,” he said. “So they asked me to be involved in, not producing and writing every song, but to be an executive producer on the songs.”
Spears and Will.i.am worked together for three months on “Femme Fatale” before joining forces again for Will.i.am’s album. For her next album, the producer says he wants to take a new approach.
“We can’t do another song about going on the dance floor,” he said. “Really? Didn’t we see a bunch of Britney doing that already? Don’t we want to see something that comes from her heart?”
Spears and Will.i.am most recently worked together on “Scream & Shout” off Will.i.am’s latest album, “#willpower.” The song reached the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
There is currently no timeline for when we can expect the new album from Spears. However, Will.i.am did reveal that he hopes to tour outside of the U.S. in September. In the meantime, Spears will be releasing a new song called “Ooh La La” for “The Smurfs 2″ soundtrack.
