Who Won The Year? Affleck? Stewart? Pattinson? Tatum? Craig?

Time flies when you’re having fun and believe it or not, in a few days it will be 2013. Boy have we seen it all this year. Box office records broken. Really, really, bad opening weekends we’d rather forget (remember “That’s My Boy”?). So, like we did over the summer it’s time for Who Won The Week to take stock on the year and see which celeb won the year at the box office.

There’s a lot of standouts. As we’ve been telling you all year, Channing Tatum has been the crown prince of the box office this year (going number one on numerous films), and things only got better a few months ago when People named his Sexiest Man Alive. Then there’s his “Magic Mike” co-star Matthew McConaughey who had an incredible year at the movies with challenging roles in movies as diverse as the sexually charged “The Paperboy” to the ripped from the headlines comedy/thriller “Bernie.” He also welcomed into the world baby number three this year as well. Ben Affleck continued his reinvention from big screen heartthrob (and tabloid bullseye) earlier in his career to a respected director/actor as his latest film “Argo” is deep in the mix of the award season discussion (the film has grossed over $100 million domestically, to date). And though he’s never been shy to speak out on political issues, he’s recently denied any rumors of him running for Senate. Someone you won’t likely ever see run for office, but we wouldn’t mind taking on the department of defense, is Daniel Craig. James Bond himself has returned for the latest installment, “Skyfall,” with incredible critical and box office reception. Considered by many to be one of the best 007s films ever, the film is nearing the $1 billion mark for its worldwide gross. And, of course, much of that goes to the dapper blue-eyed 007 Craig, who is just starting to warm up as Bond seeing he’s still locked for at least two more movies. No complaints here. Lastly, we can’t forget Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson who have finally put the final chapter in the “Twilight” saga this year. They also had success on their own: Stewart with the successful “Snow White and the Hunstman” (which she’s currently shooting a sequel to—and yes, director Rupert Sanders, which Stewart admitted to cheating on while with Pattinson, is returning to direct) and “On The Road,” where let’s say she shows off her more wild side; Pattinson with the trippy David Cronenberg thriller “Cosmopolis.” But we will always remember the two as Bella and Edward, and it seems audiences feel the same way as the final film, “Breaking Dawn 2,” is nearing $300 million. The two actor’s love may not live forever, but we’ll always have the movies.

There’s a lot of worthy candidates for winner of the year. But after long analysis we think the year goes to Channing Tatum. From comedy (“21 Jump Street”), love story (The Vow) to starring in two Steven Soderbergh movies (“Haywire” and “Magic Mike”) with the two teaming again in 2013, Mr. Sexiest Man Alive showed us his range this year and it only looks like things are going to pick up in the new year. He’s got the sequel to “21 Jump Street,” the actioner “White House Down” with Jamie Foxx as the president and the drama “Foxcatcher” with Steve Carell.

So congrats Channing. You have proved you’ve got more going on than dance moves and good looks.

See you all in the new year!
