A bustier late singer Whitney Houston wore recently sold at auction for $18,750.
The piece was one of 13 items from Houston’s wardrobe at the Hollywood Legends auction on March 31; the entire collection yielded just over $80,000 in winning bids. Along with the bustier, a gray gown Houston wore to a 1996 pre-Grammy party and the pearl earrings she wore in “The Bodyguard” fetched $11,250 and $2,812, respectively.
“What we have now is all we’re going to have from Whitney Houston,” said Darren Julien, a celebrity auctioneer. “That makes her memorabilia sought after by high-end collectors and fans.” Julien noted that additional items owned by Whitney Houston will be auctioned sometime in June.
Other recent high-profile auctions sold unreleased Michael Jackson lyrics, Indiana Jones’ whip, Elizabeth Taylor’s jewelry, Bela Lugosi’s Dracula cape and John Lennon’s tooth to the highest bidder. Have you ever bid on celebrity memorabilia? If not, would you ever?
