Angelina Jolie has taken her goodwill ambassador role with the United Nations seriously for over 10 years, and the organization has named Jolie a special envoy for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. In her new role, the actress will represent the UNHCR to diplomats and governments at the diplomatic level, according to E! Online.
“She is expected to focus on large-scale crises resulting in the mass displacement of people,” said Adrian Edwards of the UNHCR at a Geneva news conference. “I don’t think you need a rocket scientist to see the benefits that she is bringing in terms of the attention that she is getting for the plight of the world’s displaced.”
