Tim Burton will be honored at the 56th Annual BFI London Film Festival Awards, along with his wife Helena Bonham Carter. They will each be presented with a BFI Fellowship, the highest award given by the British Film Institute. The honor is presented to individuals in “recognition of their outstanding contribution to film or television culture.”
Burton’s latest film, “Frankenweenie ,” opens the festival this evening, Oct. 10, and runs through Oct. 21. The Fellowship Award will then be presented to Carter and him on Saturday, Oct. 20.
