Not even electrifying stars like Amber Heard [check out our exclusive pics HERE] and Naturi Naughton could save the show, which was set in Chicago’s first Playboy club in the ’60s. The series received less than stellar ratings, with last night’s episode drawing only 3 million viewers.
But it’s not all bad news for NBC: Although Playboy got the axe, they’ve ordered full seasons of two other shows: Whitney Cummings’ raunchy comedy Whitney and the Christina Applegate series Up All Night.
NBC entertainment chair Robert Greenblatt said in a statement:
“We made comedy an important goal for us this season and I’m very pleased to be making full-season commitments to both Whitney and Up All Night. We’re thrilled with the creative direction of both shows as well as the potential for them to continue to build loyal audiences over the coming months. We’re proud of all of the producers, writers, actors, and directors who have worked so hard to bring these shows to life.”
