News junkies have something to celebrate. HBO has renewed “The Newsroom” for a third season.
“It’s official. #Newsroom coming back for a season 3,” star of the show Jeff Daniels tweeted.
Created by Aaron Sorkin, the drama takes viewers behind the scenes of ACN News Night, a daily news show that prides itself on journalistic integrity and covers real-life events. It’s likely the third season will cover news stories like the Newtown School shooting which occurred in December 2012 and the Boston Marathon massacre, which occurred in April of this year.
Daniels has been nominated for an Emmy in the lead drama actor category for his role as anchor Will McAvoy on “The Newsroom.” After learning of his nomination, Daniels told The Hollywood Reporter: “There’s a ‘we absolutely love you’ and ‘we absolutely hate you’ to ‘The Newsroom,’ and this is a stamp of approval that says we’re not going anywhere. And all of us want to be doing this for years.”
The second season of “The Newsroom” will end on September 15.
