“The Hunger Games” director Gary Ross has declined to direct the film’s sequel “Catching Fire,” according to a new report. Ross decided to instead film a new self-written script that would yield a larger paycheck than the offer he got from Lionsgate and 20th Century Fox.
This isn’t the first time a director has declined to direct subsequent movies in a film franchise. Chris Weitz took over for Catherine Hardwicke in the “Twilight” series, while the “Harry Potter” series had four directors: Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuaron, Mike Newell and David Yates.
Studio reps have remained mum on who is to replace Gary Ross in the “Hunger Games” sequel. Who do you think would make the perfect director?
