Fans of “The Godfather” will get to see a digitally remastered version of the iconic Francis Ford Coppola film on March 1 courtesy of a collaboration between Cinemark theaters and Paramount Pictures. The one-day engagement celebrates the movie’s 40th anniversary, and 55 Cinemark XD locations will run the restored film.
“The Godfather” will feature 5.1 digital surround sound, and no expense was spared in ensuring the film is restored properly. The Hollywood Reporter says that archivist Robert Harris and the film’s original cinematographer, Gordon Willis, oversaw the remastering process.
