Country fans who’ve served in the military may want to check out Tim McGraw‘s summer tour calendar. The country crooner is giving away a mortgage-free home to one military family at each of his tour stops. The charitable action is in conjunction with McGraw’s program HomeFront, Chase and Operation Homefront.
“My sister’s a veteran of the Gulf War. My uncle was a Vietnam veteran and my grandfather was a World War II veteran,” said McGraw. “I’ve always felt a deep sense of respect and obligation to our troops. Being able to reward them for their dedicated work with a new home will be even more rewarding for us. It feels so good to give back to them, and to have the opportunity to entertain them on Memorial Day is something I’m honored to do.”
McGraw begins the initiative with a concert today at the Beacon Theatre in New York City especially for the military. The show will be streamed on YouTube and broadcast on The Pentagon Channel so troops around the world can tune in.
Tim McGraw is the latest musician to release a line of signature headphones. The JBL Tim McGraw Artist Series headphones were created as part of a collaboration between the country star and Harman International Industries, and include in-ear and on-ear styles.
“The main thing was getting the sound the way I liked it, going through prototypes and saying, ‘I like the bass a little sharper here, I like the midrange a certain way,’” he explained, admitting that he is a “Neanderthal when it comes to electronics.”
The over-the-ear headphones will cost $129.95, while the in-ear headphones will be under $50. McGraw said that an affordable price point was a must. Tim McGraw will be participating in the JBL “Hear the Truth” campaign alongside Paul McCartney and Maroon 5. He’s also prepping for a summer tour with Kenny Chesney.
