Universal Pictures has bounced back from a lackluster “Battleship” opening with “Snow White and the Huntsman,” which brought in $56.3 million at the box office this weekend. The revisionist fairy tale was followed by “Men in Black 3” with $29.3 million and “The Avengers” with $20.3 million.

CNN notes that the “Snow White” opening is Charlize Theron‘s second best opening (“Hancock” was first) and Kristen Stewart‘s best opening outside of the “Twilight” films.

So far, “Snow White” audiences were split fairly evenly between men and women (47 percent and 53 percent, respectively) and younger and older (52 percent were 30 and older). Do you plan on seeing Theron and Stewart battle it out on the big screen?
