Ubiquitous entertainment personality Ryan Seacrest has announced his latest entrepreneurial venture: AXS TV (pronounced “access”), which will replace HDNet.
Ryan Seacrest Media is working with the Creative Artists Agency, AEG and HDNet for the channel, which will offer in-depth interviews and behind-the-scenes coverage of award shows, music festivals, pop culture events and premieres.
“Over the last year, we’ve been diligently working with our partners AEG and CAA to strategize and explore how we could deliver quality live entertainment and lifestyle programming to a large audience,” Seacrest said in a statement on his website. “HDNet is the perfect partner to help us translate our vision into a reality, giving us an instant reach into 35 million homes when we rebrand the channel and launch AXS TV.”
DISH Networks will offer AXS TV in its America’s Top 120 package, raising its exposure to more than 35 million households in North America. Do you plan to tune in to Ryan Seacrest’s new entertainment channel?
Those who flock to Times Square to see the ball drop on New Year’s Eve will see a familiar face leading the countdown: Lady Gaga. Mayor Michael Bloomberg picked the Mother Monster to helm the evening’s festivities, which are expected to draw over one million people.
Lady Gaga’s New Year’s Eve responsibilities don’t end at leading the countdown. She’ll also perform on “Dick Clark‘s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012″ and appear on a telecast of the Japanese special “Kohaku Uta Gassen.”
Other notable figures who’ve led the New Year’s Eve countdown in Times Square include Bill and Hilary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani and Muhammad Ali.
