Joe Jonas, Nelly, Gloria Estefan and John Rich Join ‘The Next: Fame is at Your Doorstep’

Jonas BrothersAnother day, another announcement for a music competition series: The CW has revealed its lineup of mentors for “The Next: Fame is at Your Doorstep,” and they include Joe Jonas, Nelly, Gloria Estefan and John Rich.

“The Next” hopes to differentiate itself from shows like “American Idol,” “The X Factor,” “The Winner Is,” “The Voice” and “Duets” by having the celebrity judges actually live with contestants for three days. As Jonas explained to Ryan Seacrest, “I’m going to be living with them for 72 hours, I’m going to be spending time with their families, learning about them.”

Another distinction is that “The Next” isn’t necessarily just looking for undiscovered talent. “These artists are going to be either people that had a chance in the past, maybe they possibly got dropped from a record label,” Jonas added. “Also there will be people that are local stars or local celebrities.”

Hot on the heels of the news that Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom‘s spinoff show has been put on hold comes an announcement that Kevin Jonas and his wife Danielle will get their own Ryan Seacrest-produced reality show on E! called “Married to Jonas.” Here’s how the official statement describes the show:

After two years of newlywed bliss, Kevin and Dani are finally ready to settle down in their New Jersey home and establish a happy suburban life. However, with the Jonas Brothers heading back to the studio to record new music, finding the right mix of “normal” and superstardom isn’t easy.

“Married to Jonas” will debut on August 19 at 10 p.m. Eastern. Do you plan on tuning in?

Ryan Seacrest Joins ‘Today’ Team at NBC

Ryan SeacrestHot on the heels of his $30 million “American Idol” contract extension, Ryan Seacrest has officially joined NBC’s “Today” team as a special correspondent. The two-year deal is the latest gig in the TV and radio host’s crowded schedule: he has a longtime morning radio show on KIIS FM in Los Angeles, hosts “American Idol” and E! News, and produces a variety of television shows, including all of the Kardashian reality shows.

“I am humbled to have the confidence of [NBCUniversal CEO] Steve Burke, Ted Harbert, Bonnie Hammer and many others within the NBCUniversal family, to strategically extend my relationship to encompass NBC programming,” said Seacrest. The host also expressed that he is “eager and excited to take on this broader new role.”

Selena Gomez Appointed as Ambassador to Ryan Seacrest Foundation

Selena GomezSelena Gomez is the newest ambassador to the Ryan Seacrest Foundation. The organization creates broadcast facilities inside of pediatric hospitals, enabling children to explore music, radio and media.

“From the beginning, I could tell that Selena really understood our mission,” said Seacrest. I’m so grateful that she’s decided to take on this larger role with us, joining our efforts to bring hope and spirit to seriously ill and injured kids. With her as ambassador, we will continue to expand our programs at children’s hospitals throughout the country.”

During an appearance on “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” to announce the appointment, the actress and musician talked about Julia, a fan who inspired her to accept the ambassadorship, as well as a project she’s working on with the foundation in her hometown of Dallas.
