Get your calendars ready to celebrate… The Dark Knight Rises?
Well, whatever your wish, now you can put it on your calendar. The 85th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, February 25, 2013!
And they’ll still be at the theater at the Hollywood and Highland complex on Hollywood Boulevard.
I think I just heard a collective publicist groan as they entered the date into their Blackberries.
The black gown Angelina Jolie wore to the Oscars® — you know, the one that inspired the pose that in turn sparked a parody Twitter account — may have cost the actress’ stylist her job. The U.K.’s Closer magazine spoke with an insider who said Jolie is furious over the ridicule she’s gotten since the Academy Awards® and places the blame on her stylist Jen Rade.
“Angelina is horrified at the reaction her Oscars dress received,” said the insider. “She pays her stylist Jen a lot of money to pick things that will make her look drop-dead gorgeous, but she felt the dress swallowed her up and she had to stick her leg [out], or it looked like she was wearing a bin bag. Now she’s being laughed at when she’s worked so hard on her look. She feels like a joke and is worried her reputation may have taken a hit.”
While we think Angelina Jolie’s A-list reputation is unlikely to suffer, she’ll probably have to endure a bit more good-natured ribbing before the buzz over her right leg dies down. After all, this is the closest we’ve gotten to a Jolie miscue in years. What do you think — should Jolie fire her stylist?
The vintage Christian Dior gown Natalie Portman wore to the 2012 Oscars has just sold for $50,000. The size-4 strapless 1954 dress was purchased by a London-based couture collector, according to the New York Post, and required no alterations whatsoever for Portman to wear it.
“[Portman] was actually going to wear another dress but then I got a call from the woman at Rare Vintage and she was like, ‘You should see this dress for Natalie,’” explained Kate Young, Portman’s stylist. “So we went and she put it on, and it needed zero alterations, and Natalie was like, ‘This was meant to be, wasn’t it?’ And I said, ‘I guess it was.’”
The couture dress was reportedly designed by Christian Dior himself. Are you surprised that Portman’s gown fetched such a hefty price?
With all the fabulous fashion we saw at the Oscars last Sunday, it’s no surprise that this week’s best-dressed list is comprised mainly of attendees. From actress Emma Stone to the always-stylish Rooney Mara, here are Celebs.com’s top 5 best-dressed celebs of the week.
5. Selena Gomez
At the 5th Annual Women In Film Pre-Oscar Cocktail Party on Sunday, Justin Bieber’s girlfriend Selena Gomez shows off her fun side in a glam Ani Lee bustier mini dress paired with nude pumps. The singer/actress styles her hair in loose waves and sports a bright red lipstick.
4. Zoe Saldana
Looking absolutely flawless in floral at the 2012 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday, actress Zoe Saldana stands out in a bombshell Balmain mini dress paired with nude Brian Atwood pumps and a Lanvin bag. The star wears her hair down in tousled waves and rocks a dramatic cat eye with pink lips.
3. Rooney Mara
Back on our best-dressed list for the second week in a row, actress Rooney Mara wows in a plunging white Givenchy gown at the Oscars. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star completes her angelic ensemble with a Fred Leighton ring, blunt bangs and crimson red pout. This may just be one of our favorite looks we’ve seen in her yet!
2. Jennifer Lopez
Also at the Oscars, American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez turns heads in a sexy, sheer, cutout sleeve (and low-cut) Zuhair Murad gown paired with a sparkly Ferragamo clutch. She piles her hair high on top of her head in a huge topknot and flaunts a gorgeous, golden glow.
1. Emma Stone
Amping up the drama in a beautifully bowed, red Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown, actress Emma Stone makes quite an entrance at the 2012 Oscars. The Help star accessorizes her awards show look with a boxy silver Louis Vuitton clutch, jewelry by the same designer and heels by Brian Atwood. Stunning, to say the least!
