A Princess Diana dress exhibit has just been announced for Kensington Palace in London. The exhibit, which is called “Diana,” will feature some of the late icon’s most famous fashion pieces, including the Emmanuel gown she wore on her first public outing with Prince Charles.

Other fashion that will be displayed includes a Versace shift dress, a Bellville Sassoon Lorcan Mullany cocktail dress and two dresses from Catherine Walker. Interior designer Finola Inger will design the exhibit’s set, while Julie Verhoeven will contribute couture wallpaper that honors Princess Diana.

“Diana” will open on March 26, 2012; Fashionista reports that the Princess Diana dress exhibit is part of $19 million in renovations of historic spots throughout London ahead of the Olympic Games and Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.

Princess Diana will always be remembered as a fashion icon. Do you think Kate Middleton will leave behind a similar legacy one day?

Celebs.com Weekly Fashion Trend Report: Luck be a Lady Tonight – Ladylike Dresses Make a Statement!

20, 2011 11:00am

By Allison Daniels

No matter the decade, the trend climate, or the actual climate, ladylike dresses are always in style. Sometimes they appear as a reaction to body-con overload; sometimes the public’s infatuation with a new public figure (pun intended – we’re looking at you, Kate Middleton) results in a revival of demure dressing sensibilities, and sometimes television shows (e.g. “Mad Men”) deliver the desire. No matter the impetus for its renaissance, this is one of the few trends that works for everybody (and every body).

With hallmarks including A-line skirts, waist-defining silhouettes, and modest hemlines, the ladylike trend is flattering to any figure, and so classic that it deserves your investment.

The looks I’m going to show you today are equally timeless and au courante.

Here are a few beautiful examples of this trend on this season’s red carpet stars!

The ladies in the image above rock very different versions of the ladylike frock. Jessica Alba goes mod in color-blocked, metallic Thakoon; Miranda Kerr adds some sensuality with low-cut Louis Vuitton; Taylor Swift shines in a high-octane Oscar de la Renta confection. Commonalities of note? A-line, below-the-knee skirts, demure heels, and defined waists.

Another wonderful aspect of the ladylike dress is its versatility. Equally appropriate for a lunch date or cocktails, this dress is a chic way to go from day to night with little to no effort.

The Hollywood Reporter‘s annual “Power 100: Women in Entertainment” event was full of ladylike dresses, demonstrating that even the most powerful of women can rock a retro-chic look.

Here again we have three unique twists on the ladylike look. Kirsten Dunst rocks a soft Burberry trench dress, for a mysterious take on the classic silhouette; Shailene Woodley shows depth in a multi-textured Prabal Gurung frock; Kate Bosworth opts for structured neutrals, courtesy of Mulberry.

My hope is that this varied and distinct array of Stepford-worthy dresses will convince you that there’s a ladylike look to suit every style, shape, and occasion!

Now, here are some incredible pieces to consider adding to your own wardrobe. Whether you’re looking for an of-the-moment trend piece, or hoping to find a true investment piece, there’s something for you here.

Kate Middleton Britain's Best Dressed

No surprises here: the National League of Junior Cotillions has voted Kate Middleton the Best-Mannered Person of 2011 and singled out Kim Kardashian as the Most Ill-Mannered.

The Duchess of Cambridge was singled out for “the poise and dignity with which she conducts herself in the public spotlight, before and after her marriage to Prince William. Kardashian, on the other hand, was bashed for “making a private matter public and disrespecting the institution of marriage.”

Other celebrities who were praised for their classy behavior in 2011 include Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. Do you agree with the National League of Junior Cotillions’ assessments?

Most Americans would prefer Jennifer Aniston to sit beside them at their holiday table over any other celebrity, according to a HomeGoods survey. The actress won 30 percent of the vote; Kate Middleton came in second with 21 percent of votes, while Aniston’s ex-husband Brad Pitt got 16 percent of the vote.

And the chef they’d most like to prepare their holiday meal? Paula Deen, Gordon Ramsay and Martha Stewart, in that order. When it’s time to party, though, most Americans would like to do so with Rachael Ray (31 percent) and Jay Leno (17 percent).

The HomeGoods online survey polled 1,008 U.S. residents. Do you agree with its findings?

Trim the Tree With This Prince William and Kate Middleton Christmas Ornament

Prince William and Kate Middleton Christmas Ornament

Royal Crown Derby has produced a luxurious limited-edition Prince William and Kate Middleton Christmas ornament. The oval bauble was designed by June Branscombe; it features the royals’ initials underneath a crown and is hand-finished in 22-karat gold.

The ornaments were created “to celebrate the newlyweds’ first Christmas,” according to Royal Crown Derby. Only 1,500 were made — at a cost of £85 apiece — so if you want one, you’ll have to act quickly.

If you’re not keen on trimming your tree with the British royals, perhaps ornaments featuring “Jersey Shore” royalty would suit you.
