Hugh Jackman’s Biggest Critic: His Daughter

21, 2011 8:00am

The world may love Hugh Jackman, but when it comes to “Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway,” the actor’s one-man show, his 6-year-old daughter Ava finds it “boring.”

“About a week ago, [my kids] came on a Sunday matinee,” explained Jackman. “I said, ‘Guys, look, you can be honest with me. Do you like the show?’ My son Oscar says, ‘I really like it.’ I was touched. My daughter said, ‘I find it a little boring.’”

Jackman thinks that the portion of the show that turned his daughter off was when he went into the audience to serenade his wife, telling Anderson Cooper, “My daughter literally hides under the seat in front. She dies.”

Don’t worry, Hugh — in a few years, she’ll love your serenades!

The Time Hugh Jackman Peed His Pants Onstage

13, 2011 12:44pm

Move over, Gerard Depardieu. Hold onto your adult diapers, Fergie. There’s a new celebrity pants-wetter in town!

The always-charming Hugh Jackman, always up for a bit of self-deprecating fun, has admitted to the world that yes, he did once pee his pants. On stage. In front of an audience.

Your recurring nightmare was Hugh’s reality when he starred as Gaston in a 1996 production of Beauty and the Beast and found himself with a full bladder in front of a full house. The “Real Steel” star appeared on the Rachael Ray Show and shared the following tale:

“The first show I ever did, singing and dancing, was Beauty and the Beast. I was playing Gaston. Gaston has red tights, knee high boots, and it’s very physical. I had headaches everyday for two months. I went to an astropath and he said ‘Well, you’re dehydrated.’ So of course [following his advice] I had four liters of water.

“I go down to the stage, getting ready for my first number…and I’m like I really need to go again. [The routine is] the most cardiovascular song I’ve ever done: literally I’m picking up Belle and as I pick her up, I stopped singing and right in that moment I realized the muscles you need to release in order to sing are the ones you do not want to release if you need to go.

“I’m carrying her [over one shoulder] not singing, and she’s going ‘What’s going on? What’s going on?’ So finally, it’s embarrassing at this point. I’ve not sung an entire verse.”

Hugh’s interview airs tomorrow. You should check it out for a wee bit.
