A bevy of celebrities, including Christy Turlington, Debra Messing and Ann Curry, have banded together to support No Mothers Day, an initiative by Every Mother Counts that raises awareness about women’s deaths due to pregnancy and childbirth complications.

The No Mothers Day initiative invites women of all ages to disappear and go silent on Mother’s Day, both online and offline, and asks them to instruct family members to not give gifts or cards. This silence is to honor the hundreds of thousands of mothers who die every year when they’re at the brink of motherhood.
