Amy Winehouse‘s family has revealed that a few days after the singer’s death on July 23rd, her home was robbed.
Amy’s father Mitch Winehouse, a taxi driver, believes that the thieves were some of Amy’s acquaintances, since they stole lyrics, letters, and unreleased music instead of material goods. And only friends, family, and investigators have been granted access to the singer’s home since her death.
A friend of the family says: “This is such a sickening shock to the family. That someone would stoop so low. They can’t get their heads around it.
“Mitch is livid. The family, record label and management are months away from deciding what to do with any unreleased music. For that to be taken out of their hands is horrible.”
Mitch is asking for the perpetrators to return Amy’s items so the Winehouse family doesn’t have to deal with yet another investigation.
With friends and mourners like friend Kelly Osbourne and Back to Black producer Mark Ronson in attendance, Amy Winehouse‘s funeral was held today in North London.
The memorial service was held partly in Hebrew in accordance with Amy’s Jewish faith, and the star will be cremated at Golders Green crematorium, like her grandmother before her.
Amy’s father, taxi driver Mitch Winehouse, said, “Goodnight my angel. Sleep tight. Mommy and Daddy love you ever so much,” before leading the mourners in song: Carole King’s “So Far Away”, which was one of Amy’s favorites.
And the singer’s boyfriend, Reg Traviss, broke his silence and told the media:
“The last three days have been hell. We have suffered a terrible untimely loss and want peace now. I can’t describe what I am going through and I want to thank so much all of the people who have paid their respects and who are mourning the loss of Amy, such a beautiful, brilliant person and my dear love. I have lost my darling who I loved very much.”
Several outlets are reporting that Amy Winehouse‘s last performance was her disastrous mess in Serbia, a heartbreaking portrait of a talent in the grips of her own demons.
Thankfully, it’s not true–not exactly.
Just three days before she was found dead in her London apartment, Amy appeared onstage with teen singer Dionne Bromfield, who was Amy’s goddaughter and protegee.
Although she didn’t belt along using her famous voice, Amy appeared happy and healthy as she danced along onstage next to her beloved Dionne. It’s a nice way to remember a woman whose troubles unfortunately often overshadowed her talent.
With Amy Winehouse‘s autopsy underway as we speak, there are plenty of rumors circulating regarding the singer’s last hours. An “insider” told the British tabloid The People that Amy was seen buying a combination of ketamine, cocaine, heroin, and ecstasy at a Camden bar on Friday night, while another source told the Daily Mirror that she had a blowout with her boyfriend, Reg Traviss, after he found out she’d been contacting her toxic ex, Blake Fielder-Civil.
However, everything’s just speculation at this point.
Amy’s good friend and PR representative, Chris Goodman, claims that the singer was checked by a doctor the day before as part of her recovery process and given a clean bill of health. On Saturday, she went to take a nap and her bodyguard checked on her six hours later and found her unresponsive.
Goodman says: “She was in her bedroom after saying she wanted to sleep and when he went to wake her he found she wasn’t breathing. He called the emergency services straight away. He was very shocked. At this stage no one knows how she died. She died alone in bed.”
