Amongs the awards shows and events taking place this weekend around the globe, the Irish Film and Television Awards ("IFTA"s) were handed out in Dublin, Ireland. Amongst the winners were Best Actor - Michael Fassbender ("X-Men:First Class," "Hunger," "Prometheus," "A Dangerous Method") for the film "Shame" and funny-man Chris O'Dowd for his work in "Bridesmaids." Another group of critics, the New York Film Critics Online, has listed its year’s best, honoring silent film “The Artist” with its top prize and singling out actors Michael Shannon, Meryl Streep, Albert Brooks, Melissa McCarthy and Jessica Chastain for honors.
