As AFI Fest director Jacqueline Lyanga said, “Steven Spielberg epitomizes American filmmaking, and who better to tell the story of one of the most significant figures in our country’s history. In this important presidential election year, Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln’ reminds us that the challenges of the past remain as relevant today.”
The film stars Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln, and focuses on the 16th president’s final months in office as he worked to end slavery and mend America. It is loosely based on the book “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln” by Doris Kearns Goodwin.
“Lincoln” will hit theaters on Friday Nov. 9 and expand to more theaters on Nov. 16.
