Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson star in a new eight-episode drama for HBO called “True Detective.” The network unveiled the first full-length trailer for the upcoming series during Sunday night’s premiere of “Boardwalk Empire.”
The actors play detectives Rush Cohle (McConaughey) and Marin Hart (Harrelson), who are on the search for a serial killer in Louisiana. The first season will follow the detectives’ 17-year search for the killer, and viewers will watch how their lives become entangled by the case.
Every season of “True Detective” will feature a new story with a different cast, not unlike FX’s “American Horror Story.”
The series marks McConaughey’s first commitment as a series regular. This will be Harrelson’s first return to television as a series regular since his role as Woody Boyd on “Cheers.”
“True Detective” will premiere on HBO in January. You can check out the trailer below.
