Some outlets are reporting that Sean Penn went on a verbal rampage on Friday in Cannes, blasting Haiti slacktivists whom he says abandoned the nation after its 2010 earthquake. “It’s not only celebrities who went for a day,” he said. “It’s the whole f*cking world. It’s all of you.”
That said, Celebs.com was there on the ground and was listening to what seemed like nothing more than an impassioned Penn discussing the situation and certainly didn’t see the level of heat coming from Penn that used to land the actor in trouble with paparazzi photographers.
Penn went on to add that people weren’t committed to the cause from the beginning. “The reason we have Haiti fatigue is because there was never a commitment in the first place,” he explained.
Sean Penn’s remarks came during a news conference with Paul Haggis and Petra Nemcova preceding their Cannes Film Festival benefit for Haiti sponsored by Giorgio Armani. Check out Celebs.com’s own photos from the press conference!
