Scarlett Johansson channels vintage opulence for a luxurious cover and editorial in the Vogue May 2012 issue. She’s captured by famed fashion photographer Mario Testino in a variety of neutral glamorous gowns aside Mark Ruffalo and a leopard.
In the accompanying interview, Johansson opened up about how she’s still recovering from her divorce from Ryan Reynolds. “It was horrible. Of course it’s horrible. It was devastating. It really throws you,” she admitted. “You think that your life is going to be one way, and then, for various reasons or whatever, it doesn’t work out. This was something I never thought I would be doing. And there’s no way to navigate it. Nobody can give you the right answer. It’s never anything you want to hear. It’s a very lonely thing. It’s like the loneliest thing you’ll ever do, in some way.”
Despite the heartbreak, Johansson doesn’t regret her decision to get married, calling it “a beautiful thing” and “a rare opportunity.” See more photos of Scarlett Johansson in Vogue below.
