Ruben Studdard is heading to “The Biggest Loser.” The singer who won season two of “American Idol” in 2003 and soon became known as the “velvet teddy bear” will compete on the upcoming 15th season of the weight-loss competition.
Studdard initially lost a big chunk of weight in 2008, but has struggled with keeping the weight off more recently after getting divorced last year.
“I’ve never had an issue with my weight,” Studdard said in a previous interview. ”[But] my family has a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart-related issues — things I didn’t have to deal with yet because I’m young. But I don’t want to be worried at 40, and if I don’t fix things now, I will be.”
