Rihanna is a pop princess and she’s not afraid to show it. She and her team are willing to bet that fans will spend $250 to own a special edition of her upcoming “Unapologetic” release.
The singer’s seventh studio album will be released on Nov. 19 in its original form. You can still download it off iTunes or purchase the CD at a regular studio album price. However, if you wait until Dec. 11 and save up your money, you can own the limited edition, numbered “Diamonds Executive Platinum Box.”
For a hefty $250 price tag, some of the items you’ll receive include a handwritten personal note from Rihanna, a 2GB credit card-style USB flash drive, a T-shirt, seven 12 x 15 lithographs, stickers, collectible colored vinyl featuring “Diamonds” remixes, a View Master with unreleased images, a 40-page notebook, a deluxe version of the album, a 20-minute DVD with unreleased footage and an exclusive fan poster.
If you don’t want to fork over that much cash but still want to be in the VIP room, there’s a “Diamonds Deluxe Edition Box” for $79. With that package, some of what you’ll receive includes a T-shirt, stickers, DVD, fan poster, a “limited edition genuine, conflict-free diamond bracelet” and a brass disc with a 1pt diamond packaged in a signature R logo card.
What do you think of the special “Unapologetic” packaging? Is it a chance for major fans to get more of what they want or is it simply a ripoff?
