It seems Reese Witherspoon does not want to answer questions about her arrest for disorderly conduct in Atlanta over the weekend. The actress has canceled appearances on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” and “Good Morning America.” Witherspoon was scheduled to appear on “GMA” yesterday and “Late Night” today to promote her new film, “Mud.”
Witherspoon was arrested early Friday morning with her husband Jim Toth, who is facing charges for DUI. Both spent a short period of time in jail and they are expected to appear in court next month. Despite the arrest, Witherspoon appeared on the red carpet premiere for “Mud” on Sunday, but refused to take any questions.
“Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said,” Witherspoon said in a statement following her arrest. She may also be addressing reports that she tried to use her celebrity status to help get her out of the situation.
“It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse,” she continued. “I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The worlds I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behavior.”
