Creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes released the following statement, “I’m sad to say that ‘Private Practice’s’ run will end after episode 613 this season. There was a lot of discussion and debate but, in the end, the guys at the network and the studio and I all decided that ‘Private Practice’ was reaching its finish line.”
Walsh announced last summer that she would be leaving the series after fulfilling her 13-episode commitment for the current season. According to the show’s ABC schedule, this would mean the series finale would air sometime in January.
One thing Walsh hasn’t ruled out is a return to the place that started it all, “Grey’s Anatomy.” The actress confessed, “That’s Shonda’s decision, really. I wouldn’t want to do it all of the time but I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to it either, especially if a good storyline came up that needed her.”
