I like mystery. I didn’t like going behind the curtain in The Wizard of Oz and I didn’t like finding out that Jandek was a mild-mannered older gentleman who looked like the singer from Midnight Oil. So I certainly don’t want to see Banksy, the elusive street artist who was up for an Oscar for Exit Through the Gift Shop. There were rumors that he wanted to accept his Oscar wearing a gorilla suit, and thus far, he’s been able to keep up an aura of mystery. But then Gawker releases these photos (via Gawker) of possible Banksy working on a possible Banksy piece in Los Angeles. See why I don’t like to destroy the myth? A butt hanging out of dumpy track pants. That’s why.
