Mirroring the marketing strategy behind Ben Affleck’s film “The Town” from 2010, “Contagion” makes its premiere mark at the Venice Film Festival ahead of its theatrical release in the U.S. this coming week. Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne, Jennifer Ehle and director Steven Soderbergh took to the red carpet to present the film.
Also lighting up the long walk were actors James Franco and Val Lauren, stars of the biopic “Sal,” a film about the actor Sal Mineo in which Franco stars as film director and famed acting coach Milton Katselas (with Val Lauren taking the title role), as well as Italian powerhouse Monica Bellucci (Phillippe Garel’s “That Summer”). Bellucci and Evan Rachel Wood have been two of the more stylish actresses to continue to grace the festival day after day, while Darren Aronofsky continued leading his jury in the process to decide the Golden Lion awards.
