Penelope Cruz is being considered for a role in the upcoming movie “Gucci.” The film centers on the late Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of Gucci’s founder, and his path to becoming leader of the family empire.
It’s been 12 years since Maurizio Gucci was gunned down in cold blood in front of his Milan office in Italy. At first, it was thought to be a business-related murder but soon, investigators learned that it was a murder-for-hire. Gucci’s ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani, admitted to setting up the killing and has not been shy about the fact that she wanted her ex-husband dead. She was convicted in 1998 and sentenced to 29 years, which was lowered to 26 years on an appeal in 2000.
The project has been struggling to get off the ground for several years. It was first announced back in 2006 and as recently as 2009, Angelina Jolie was in talks to play the role of Reggiani. Now that there’s some new movement on the project, hopefully it will see its day in the sun.
