Comedian Patton Oswalt will be hosting the 17th annual Webby Awards next month in New York. The awards ceremony celebrates the best of the world wide web.
“Patton can out-nerd the nerdiest of nerdy nerds, and out funny just about anyone,” David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards, said in a statement.
This year’s Webby nominees include Tom Hanks, Lena Dunham, Charlize Theron, Jerry Seinfeld and Justin Bieber. Oswalt will be responsible for making sure winners don’t exceed their five-word maximum acceptance speeches — to honor the brevity of the Internet.
Oswalt recently offered the world a bit of hope to the world in a Facebook post following the Boston Marathon explosions on Monday. He reminded readers not to lose faith in humanity by remembering that good always outweighs hatred.
The Webby Awards will take place on May 21 at Cipriani Wall Street.
