Ross and Rachel, played by David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston, respectively, are arguably one of the greatest romantic couplings to ever hit the airwaves. Surprisingly, the producers of “Friends” entertained the idea of not giving the pair a happy ending.
Producer David Crane admitted, “There was always that question about do we get Ross and Rachel together? At first we thought that [getting them together] seems so expected. [We thought about a] vague, ‘They are not together but there is hope for the future.’ And then we were like, ‘Screw that! People have waited 10 years for this! Let’s give them what they want and let’s do it really well.’”
Thankfully they came to their senses. It’s hard to imagine a world where Ross and Rachel are still fumbling around miserable without one another.
“Friends” will be released on Blu-ray for the first time on Nov. 13.
