Nicki Minaj has been the most controversial “American Idol” judge to date, and the producers of the show are loving it. Producer Nigel Lythgoe said the rapper will definitely be asked to stay on the judge’s panel for another season.
When asked if Minaj would be welcomed back, Lythgoe replied, “By me, she certainly will be!”
Nicki Minaj is a rookie to the show, along with her fellow judges Mariah Carey and Keith Urban, who joined ”Idol” veteran Randy Jackson. Her many controversies on the show include an on-going feud with Carey, walking off set after an argument with the other judges, showing up late to a live show and just generally not being very nice to some contestants.
Most recently, Minaj demanded contestants left the “American Idol” stage after they messed up the lyrics during a performance of “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch).”
In more “American Idol” news, Lythgoe revealed he’s thinking about bringing on Justin Bieber as a contestant mentor.
“I’m just trying to figure out what he’d mentor,” the producer said, adding an appearance from Bieber would also help the show’s ratings.
