Miley Cyrus once again had everyone talking when she released her latest music video for her new song “Wrecking Ball.” Directed by Terry Richardson, Cyrus spends a good portion of the music video completely naked while swinging on an actual wrecking ball. However, Cyrus wants viewers of the video to look past the literal to get a better understanding of her overall message.
“I think the video is much more,” she said during an interview with Z100. “If people get past the point I make, and you actually look at me, you can tell I look more broken than even the song sounds.”
Having broken the record for the most views in a 24-hour period with 44 million hits on YouTube, the video also shows Cyrus staring straight into the camera with tears rolling down her cheeks as she sings the lyrics.
“If people can take their minds off the obvious and go into their imagination and see what the video really means, it is so vulnerable. … If you look at my eyes, I look more sad than actually my voice sounds on the record,” she added. “It was a lot harder to actually do the video than it was to even record the song. It was much more of an emotional experience.”
