Miley Cyrus is finally addressing all the backlash she has received after her memorable performance with Robin Thicke at the 2013 VMAs. The performance included a very small amount of clothes, dancing teddy bears and, as expected, a lot of twerking.
“Me and Robin, the whole time said, ‘You know we’re about to make history right now,’” Cyrus said. “What’s amazing is I think now, we’re three days later, and people are still talking about it.”
Cyrus and Thicke’s performance was definitely the one everyone has been talking about. While it was raunchy, the performance as a whole simply made many viewers uncomfortable and seemed scrambled and unrehearsed. Cyrus even compares her performance to that of Madonna and Britney Spears, who both got sexy on the VMAs stage.
“I don’t pay attention to the negative because I’ve seen this play out so many times,” she said. “How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Madonna’s done it. Britney’s done it. Every VMA performance, that’s what you’re looking for; you’re wanting to make history.”
What did you think of Cyrus and Thicke’s VMA performance? Was it perfect for the VMA stage, or was it cringe-worthy?
