Michael Jackson is the latest departed celebrity to be resurrected. Pepsi has struck a deal with the King of Pop’s estate to release 1 billion Pepsi cans emblazoned with his image for its “Live for Now” campaign.
The move is part of Pepsi’s 20 percent boost in its marketing budget. While terms of this deal weren’t disclosed, The Hollywood Reporter notes that Jackson’s 1984 deal with Pepsi was for a staggering-at-the-time $5 million. Pepsi is hoping the partnership will help it compete against longtime nemesis Coca-Cola.
