Michael Fassbender Finds Riding Horses Hard

If you grew up in the ’80s, you remember horse girls. Mousy, long-haired girls named “Heather” with dreamy eyes and a penchant for stickers and scented rainbow erasers who spent their days drawing horses in notebooks and rereading My Friend Flicka. But have you ever heard of a horse boy? Aside from Daniel Radcliffe in Equus, I mean. Meet Michael Fassbender. He was in Inglourious Basterds, he’s Magneto in the next X-Men movie, and women love him. So do horses, apparently. Mia Wasikowska talked to MovieLine about filming with Fassbender on the set of Jane Eyre:

“Michael had a very… huge effect on any horse he got on. There was a horse on the third day of filming [when] we were shooting the scene where Jane and Rochester meet, and every time Michael hopped on the horse it got a huge erection. And he’d get off and they’d run the poor thing around the block to try to make it go away, and he’d hop on it again and it would happen all over again, and they’d have to get him off and run it around. It happened in rehearsals and then on the day of shooting. So it was great.”

I like Mia’s enthusiasm. I also like the term “Fassbender” used in place of “erection”, equine or otherwise. It sounds proper; dandy even. “I mayn’t stop at Lord and Lady Edgington’s cottage for a spot of tea, lest the lady’s decolletage cause an unconcealable Fassbender of remarkable proportions!”
