A “Mean Girls” musical could be hitting Broadway very soon! The mastermind behind the classic teen comedy, Tina Fey, has confirmed that she has been working on a musical adaptation of the 2004 movie that starred Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfried.
“We want to. I would love to,” Fey said of the possibility of a “Mean Girls” musical. “I’m trying to develop it, actually, with my husband [Jeff Richmond], who does all the music for ’30 Rock.’ And I think Paramount’s onboard,” she told reporters as the SAG awards last weekend.
“Mean Girls” is about a teenage girl who re-enters the word of American high school after being home schooled by her parents in Africa. Along the way, she finds herself battling her school’s mean girls, The Plastics. The movie was actually based on the non-fiction book, “Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of Adolescence” by Rosalind Wiseman.
