Marina Abramovic Interviewed for “The Artist is Present” at the Celebs.com Studio at Sundance

Marina Abramovic by Scott McDermott

The world’s best/most successful/most famous/most significant performance artist Marina Abramovic, and Matthew Akers, director of the documentary “Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present,” chatted with Celebs.com’s Elliot Kotek at the Celebs.com Studio at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

The film chronicles the lead-up to Abramovic’s major retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the institution’s first such exhibition for a performance artist.

Later that night, Abramovic hosted a “silent party” at Sundance – undoubtedly another first. The rumor is that Robert Redford said it was the best Sundance party he’d ever attended.

Is it wrong that I have never even heard of Marina Abramovic and cannot be sure from that photo if it is a guy or a gal?

Hints?

It is awesome that you haven’t heard of her before, and that now you have. We only learned of her fairly recently also. Lady Gaga loves her, she is a rock star in the art world, and broke all sorts of all-time attendance records at the Museum of Modern Art in New York – her work is definitely worth checking out – it’ll surprise you.

To the editor…Marina exists far more than Lady Gaga so it is pretty stupid to present her as somebody loved by L.G.

Actually, it is wrong. She originated from former Yugoslavia, as member of Signalizam movement. Just the fact that she was from socialistic country closed many doors and media exposure on the west.

Actually, I don’t find her that important. So there shouldn’t be any reason to be ashame that you didn’t know about marina abramovic.

But anyway, nice interview.

It’s too bad that you don’t know marina abramovic. Not that she’s like Mozart, but it’s a kinda important person. This post might be good as a start.

I kinda enjoyed this interview. I like when Marina Abramovic talks this way. Dunno actually why, but I really do. And shame on you those who don’t know who she is!

Marina is genius! Pure genius! I found out about her work 2 years ago when I entered art school, she is so much more than just a girl or guy Randy! I don’t need to mention she is 65 years old and without any plastic surgeries looks like this! Amazing in all ways
