The show will be based on the blockbuster film that is loosely based on Tatum’s pre-Hollywood life as a stripper. The production is also set to be an all-out musical with original music.
“The show will be produced by Channing Tatum and his partner Reid Carolin, along with the film’s director Steven Soderbergh and co-producers Gregory Jacobs and Nick Wechsler,” Tatum’s website reads. “Songs will be written by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, the creators of other Tony- and Pulitzer-winning Broadway hits like ‘Next to Normal,’ and the book will be written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.”
Tatum also revealed last year that a “Magic Mike” sequel was in the works.
