Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to star and produce an upcoming Woodrow Wilson biopic, “Wilson.” The actor will play the title role in the movie based on a recently-released biography of the same name, written by A. Scott Berg.
The film is likely to follow Wilson’s political career, as he created the Federal Reserve, his support of the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations, as well as his more controversial view of civil rights for African Americans. The movie is also likely to include his 1915 marriage to his second wife, Edith Galt. Wilson is the last president to get married in the White House. The 28th president also made the decision to enter World War I in 1917.
Wilson was a professor and football coach before entering the world of politics, and remains the only president to have a Ph.D.
It is unclear when production for “Wilson” will begin, or when the film is expected to hit theaters.
